Glenn Teelon


BAINBRIDGE – Glenn E. (Bus) Teelon of Bainbridge passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 in his favorite chair while waiting to go to dinner with his nieces Susan and Debbie and his sister, Helen.
He was born on Dec. 10, 1916 in North Norwich to Harry J. and Gertrude (Smith) Teelon. He was raised in Mt. Upton and graduated from Mt. Upton High School in 1934. He joined the U.S. Army in 1942, advancing to Staff Sergeant before his honorable discharge in 1946. While in the service, he married Catherine Chase on May 6, 1944. The had two sons, Gene and Jerry.
Glenn was predeceased by his beloved wife, Catherine, son Jerry, brother Arnold, sisters Minnie Pierce and Pauline Cosens. He is survived by his brother Lynn Teelon, sister Helen Utter, loving “partner in crime” and niece Susan Teelon, and her sisters Linda Teelon, Debra Siegert and Betsy Palmer, niece Nan Diamond and nephew Gary Hoffman. His son Gene also survives, as well as two granddaughters and several grand nieces and nephews.
After 28 years of service as a machinist, Glenn retired in 1974 from Carrier Corp. in Syracuse. Uncle Bus enjoyed his retirement and traveled to many wonderful places, of which Alaska was a favorite. He often expressed the desire to return there. Along the way he met many fine folks who became friends. He had a life well lived, was well loved and will be greatly missed by many.
At his request, there will be no funeral or calling hours. A private burial will be held at the family’s convenience.
Arrangements are by the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home, Norwich.
