Karen A. Schroer


NORWICH – Karen A. Schroer, formerly of Norwich, residing in Chambersburg, Pa., passed away peacefully May 2, 2010 after a brief hospitalization in Chambersburg Hospital. She was surrounded by her loving family, all of whom travelled in to be with her. They were able to spend the last loving days of her life with her. She is now at peace after battling lung disorders for many years.
She was born Nov. 15, 1938 in Earlville to Wilbur and Alice (Cummings) Rossman. She was married to Kenneth Schroer Jr. on Feb. 26, 1955, and with him, celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary earlier this year. She was of the Methodist faith. She was a former bookkeeper and always a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved and cared for her family daily.
She is survived by her devoted and beloved husband of fifty-five years, Ken, and their three children: Suzanne Schroer Militich (husband Jerry), residing in Panama City, Fla.; Kenneth Schroer III, residing in Norwich; and S. Andy Schroer (wife Mary), residing in Mercersburg, Pa. She was an adoring grandmother to her three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, whom she helped to raise: Andy’s daughter Samantha Schroer, age 21, Orlando, Fla.; Andy’s son Alex Schroer, age 19, Orlando, Fla; and Sue’s daughter Jenna Hill of Olympia, WA, with Jenna’s daughter Aubreigh, age 12 and Jenna’s son Ethan, age 10.
Funeral services were held by her family in Chambersburg, Pa. and were private. Memorial contributions in Karen’s memory may be made to the American Lung Association, 3001 Old Gettysburg Road, Camp Hill, PA 17011.
