Angelina Bonsie
Angelina Bonsie, 105, of Worcester, PA, formerly of Sherburne, NY, passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 where she lived with her daughter and son-in-law.
She was born on November 7, 1918, in San Bartolomeo in Galdo, Italy, where she grew up and was educated. Angelina was the daughter of the late Bartolomeo and Carmella (Gallo) Colabelli and was the 12th of 12 children. She immigrated to the United States on April 16, 1936 and settled in Sherburne where she met her husband, Michael. They were united in marriage on July 24th 1937 in St. Malachy’s Church, Sherburne. He predeceased her on May 21, 2008.
Angelina was employed by Chesebrough Ponds in Sherburne until her retirement in 1984 after 50 years of service.
She was a communicant of St. Malachy’s Church. Her passions were cooking, crocheting and enjoying her children and grandchildren. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed by family and friends.
Angelina is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Bohdan “Bob” Wolanski of Worcester, PA; a son, Michael J. Bonsie and his companion, Connie Knapp, of Earlville, NY; grandchildren, Marcellene Barrie, and her husband, Ken, Michael Bonsie, Jr., Martin Bonsie and his companion Tammy Albee, Kristina and Peter Colabelli, Joanna and Rob Moyer; great-grandchildren, Brittany, Brandee, Tanner, Ava Grace, Nicholas, Christopher and Matthew; and one great-great-grandchild, Shane.
She was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Mardelle Bonsie and all of her siblings.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at noon, from St. Malachy’s Roman Catholic Church 31 E. State St., Sherburne, NY 13460. Friends are invited and may call at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St. Sherburne, NY 13460 from 10-11:30 a.m., prior to mass. The rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in the St. Malachy’s Parish Cemetery.
