Katherine E. “Katie” Turner, 80, of Norwich, died on Sunday, November 5, 2023 at UHS
Chenango Memorial Hospital.
She was born on November 10, 1942, a daughter of the late James and Angelina (Sidote) Mirabito. Katie was a Norwich High School graduate of 1960 and St. Elizabeth’s School of Nursing in 1963. In addition to being a Registered Nurse, she owned and operated the Old Thyme Remedies health food store in Norwich. She was a lifelong member of the Church of St. Bartholomew’s, and was currently a parishioner at St. Joseph’s in Oxford, NY.
Katherine married Leonard L. Turner, on October 15, 1966, in Hamilton NY, who predeceased her on January 10, 1998.
She is survived by her children: Elizabeth (Lee) Heyward-Turner, Frances Turner, Angela (O.J.) Levesque, Lianne (Tim) Conant, and Chris Turner; grandchildren: Brie (Colin) Levesque, Kegan (Tasha) Levesque, Levi (Brooke) Levesque, Cameron (Bri) Turner, Ashley Conant, Daniel Conant, Eric Conant, Cooper Conant, Morgan Heyward, Grayson Heyward, Chase (Sarah Grace) Lyndale, Katie Turner, Juliana Turner, Zac Turner, and Jed Turner; several great-grandchildren; sister, JoAnn (Nick) Testani; brother, Ronald Mirabito; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brother, Robert and brother, Salvatore Mirabito.
A Memorial Mass for Katherine will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 9, 2023 at the Church of St. Bartholomew, where the Rev. Ralph A. Bove, will officiate. Friends are invited to call at the church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will occur immediately after at St. Paul’s Cemetery.
Katherine wanted to share a short poem: “I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one, I’d like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done. I’d like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways, of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days. I’d like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun.
