Lester Carrier


NORWICH – Lester L. “Pat” Carrier, 91, of Norwich, passed away early Tuesday morning, May 4, 2010, at his home.
Born on April 18, 1919, in the Town of German, Pat was the son of Lewis E. and Delilah F. Dyer Carrier. Pat served in the U.S. Navy from October 1942 through October 1945 and was very proud of his military service as a Seabee. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Christy Rock Post 2782 and served as its Post Commander in 1978, 1979 and 1980. He was also a member of the Lt. Warren E. Eaton American Legion Post 189. Pat owned and operated farms in South Otselic and Plasterville. He later worked for the Raymond Corporation for 20 years, from Sept. 1, 1962 through Oct. 1, 1982. On Aug. 23, 1940, Pat married Dorothy L. White, who passed away June 7, 1979. In April of 1984, he married Catherine “Katie” Gadamowitz, who passed away June 22, 2004. Pat was also predeceased by his brother William “Billy” Carrier, and his sisters, Violet Biviano, Ulah Osterberg and Ruby Ring. His sister, Carol Thompson, died one day after his death.
Pat is survived by his children: Pam Carrier and husband Jim Stott of Soquel, Calif., Bonnie Carrier of Norwich, and Vickie Wood of Myrtle Beach, S.C; his step-children and their spouses: Kathy and James Sneddon of Toms River, N.J., Pat and Russell Martino of Lyndonville and Linda and Timothy DuMond of Guilford. Also surviving are his grandchildren: Theon Carrier and wife Annette, and Jamie Carrier; his step-grandchildren and their spouses: Jill and Mickey Cotter, Catherine and Adam Meister, Darcy and Jeff Annable, Tina and Mark Prawel, Dusty and Suzette DuMond, and Danielle and Kyle Umbra; his great grandchildren, Zora and Quinn Carrier; his step-great grandchildren: Brennan and Cameron Cotter, Matthew Prawel, Emily, Kylie, and Jessica Annable, Drewcylla and Elizabeth DuMond, and Dylan, Landon, and Peyton Umbra; and by nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Pat will be held at 1 p.m. Monday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Charles Taylor, Episcopal clergy of New Berlin, will officiate. Interment with full military rites will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Friends are invited to call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Monday from noon until the service at 1 p.m.
