MARK J. BABCOCK


Mark J. Babcock, 64, of Norwich, passed away on September 7, 2023. He was born in Binghamton to Richard and Beverly Babcock. He graduated from Dryden High School in 1977 and went on to serve his country in the US Navy from 1978-1983. Upon his discharge from the Navy, Mark made his living in Upstate NY as a driver for Hudson RPM Distributors where he was known as the “Magazine Man.” He also worked for Raymond Corporation in Greene and most recently as a maintenance worker for Golden Age Apartments.
Mark is survived by his wife of 24 years, Lesa Babcock; his children, Marc and Jennifer Babcock, of Sherburne, Kristen Ames, of Cortland, Tracie Ames and Seth Barrows, of Orlando, FL, Kelly Babcock, of Cortland, and Kayla Crandall and Zac Kays, of North Norwich; his grandchildren, Alanna and Allan Hodge, Sonya “Fav” Russell, Ariana Russell, Jacob Babcock, Bryceton Babcock, Kinzley Babcock, Ryan Ames, Callen Tracey, Madison Meola, Olivia Barrows, Wyatt Barrows, Danica Stanton, and Savannah Goodrich; his mother, Beverly Babcock, of Cortland; his siblings, Steve and Sue Babcock, of Wellsville, Mike and Laura Babcock, of Covington, LA, Scott and Julie Babcock, of Candor, Rick Babcock and Jana Fanning, of Grove, OK, Joe and Nancy Babcock, of Ocean City, NJ, and Lonnie Sue and Ross Boyer, of Freeville; his brother-in-law, Craig Pike and Sandy; his mother-in-law, Ramona Pike; friends that became family to him, The Andersons, of Sherburne, and Marie and Bug Loughren, of Norwich; as well as many nieces and nephews. Mark was predeceased by his father, Richard Babcock, and his father-in-law, Roger Pike.
A celebration of Mark’s life will take place on Sunday, October 8, at Bullthistle Brewery, 45 S. Main St. Sherburne from 12:00-4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mark’s memory may be made to Wilmot Cancer Institute, 601 Elmwood Ave. Rochester, NY 14642.
