NORWICH – Andrew J. “Junie” Bruno Jr., 54, of Silver St., passed away Saturday, May 8, 2010 at home with his family by his side, after a 1-1/2 year battle with lung cancer.
He was born Nov. 11, 1955 in Norwich, the son of Eva F. Bruno Neal and the late Andrew J. Bruno. He worked at Johnson Lumber in Cazenovia until illness forced him to resign. He also worked for dairy farmers previously. He will be remembered as a great son, husband, father and a good worker.
He is survived by his long-time companion, Brenda Ortman; two sons, Joshua Bruno and his girlfriend Michelle, and Adam Bruno, all of Norwich; his mother, Eva, two sisters, Susan (Robert) Davis and Betty Morris, all of Sherburne; three brothers, Russell and Douglas Bruno of Sherburne and Daniel Bruno of Oxford. Also surviving are Shirley Ortman, Lisa, Valerie, Laurie and Becky; many cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. He was predeceased by his grandparents, William and Edna Collins.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne, followed by burial in the Sherburne Quarter Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Thursday from noon until 2 p.m. prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, his family has requested that donations be made to Brenda Ortman, 105 Silver St., Apt. 1, Norwich, NY 13815, for the care of his children, Joshua and Adam.
