Kathryne Lavoie Glasser


Kathryne (Whitney) Lavoie Glasser, 60, a lifelong resident of Norwich, NY, passed away on August 22, 2023, at her home surrounded by family. Kathy was born February 25, 1963, in Norwich, NY. The firey red head was a 1981 graduate of Norwich High School and a 1985 graduate of Wilkes University in PA. For many years, Kathy worked in social services for Chenango County and retired in 2018.
Kathy is survived by her husband, Jeffrey Glasser; children, Matthew Lavoie of Norwich, NY and Whitney (Ian) Cook, of Albany, NY; siblings, Robert Whitney of Norwich, NY, Timothy (Melanie) Whitney of Mather, CA, Alan (Robin) Boulant of Scotia, NY, Shawn (Kim) Boulant of Rocky Point, NC, Kimberly Harvey of Norwich, NY, Paula (Brian) Swartout of Citrus Heights, CA; father-in-law, Larry (Janet) Glasser; mother-in-law, Bobbie Jean (Wayne) Polumbo; daughter-in-law, Marissa (Rich) Christman; granddaughter-in-law, Cassidy Christman; several sibling-in-laws, and many cherished friends.
Kathy was predeceased by her husband, William Lavoie; son, Scott Lavoie; father, Emerton Whitney; mother, Gwendolyn Boulant; and step-father. Paul Boulant.
Kathy married William Lavoie in 1987 at St. Malachy’s Church in Sherburne, NY. Together they raised a family who supported and loved one another, enjoyed years of family vacations, sporting events, family dinners, and lots of laughs – especially Scott’s boisterous and contagious laugh.
Kathy’s strong will, determination, and love of life, inspired her to live each day to the fullest. She endured the most painful years of her life in recent past, but continued to find joy in friends, family, and most recently with her husband Jeff. In their brief time together they traveled, enjoyed pool parties with friends, and long rides on their Harley.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at 11:00 AM at St. Paul’s Church, Norwich, NY. Interment will follow at St. Paul’s Cemetery, Norwich, NY. There will be no calling hours.
Donations in her honor may be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital, Hospice of Chenango County, or the Ayres Memorial Animal Shelter.
