ALAN R. ZOGG

(February 18, 1957 – July 23, 2023)
Alan R. Zogg, long time resident of Hamilton, NY, passed away peacefully at home with his loving wife by his side. He was born February 18, 1957 in Syracuse, NY to Harold and Anne (Winester) Zogg. Alan was the middle son of three, growing up in Baldwinsville, NY.
Alan graduated from C.W. Baker High School in Baldwinsville, NY, and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering Science from Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), Rochester, NY. He worked at Pennwalt Pharmaceuticals, Rochester, NY, IBM Corporation, Boulder, CO, Pfaudler/Sybron Corporation, Rochester, NY, Xerox Corporation, Webster, NY, and ITEK Corporation, Rochester, NY, as a Packaging Engineer through the RIT Co-op program. After graduating, Alan was employed at Savin Corporation, Binghamton, NY, then IBM Corporation, Owego, NY, and after that, Digital Equipment Corporation, Maynard, MA, as a Senior Packaging Engineer. He changed his career as a Packaging Consultant with Broome Packaging, Binghamton, NY, then with Rock City Box Company (now Inland), Utica, NY, ending his career with Orcon Industries, LeRoy, NY as a Packaging Sales Consultant. He was a member of CNY Chapter of IOPP (Institute of Packaging Professionals) and a charter member of CNY Chapter of SPHE (Society of Packaging and Handling Engineers). He was proud to have a US Patent for specialty packaging product of a roll formed corrugated tray, used for automotive body side moldings.
Alan met his loving wife Katherine (Dibble) when she worked at Pennwalt Corporation. They were married June 11, 1983, just recently celebrating 40 years of marriage. They both retired in April 2014.
Alan enjoyed hunting and fishing, making a trip to Colorado to hunt for mule deer and elk, to Maine for a moose hunt with Kathy, fishing with friends on Lake Ontario for salmon and brown trout, and Oneida Lake especially for walleye, which he cooked beautifully using a “shore lunch” recipe. Alan enjoyed the fall deer hunt on our property, constructing a tree stand that could pose as a tiny house. He enjoyed mentoring hunting and fishing knowledge and skills to anyone interested. He was a member of the Rolling Antiquers Old Car Club, Norwich, NY for many years. Alan also had a small business, creating lure holder pads for fishing lures, which he primarily sold to charter captains all over the country.
Alan is survived by his wife, Katherine, mother-in-law Yeska Dibble, his brother Edward (Sandra) Zogg, nieces Rachel Zogg, Krista Zogg and nephew Robert (Fexayra) Zogg, great nephew (Edward), sister-in-law Cindy Pickens, aunts and cousins. He is predeceased by his parents and older brother David.
