Eldon Black


SALEM, Va. – Eldon W. Black, of Salem, Va., went to meet his Lord on April 24, 2010.
He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict and an active member of The American Legion’s Post #3 for the past 18 years.
Eldon is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Kathaleen (Katie) Black; his son, Ronald Black and wife, Cindy; his daughters, Ronda Howard and husband, Tony, Donna Floyd and husband, Eddie, and Diane Wood; sister, Alma Ubbens and husband, Ed; and sister-in-law, June Black.
He was a proud grandfather to 17 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren and also an uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Eldon was predeceased by his first wife, Louise Borroughs Black; his son, David Palmer; grandson, Matthew Lyczak; granddaughter, Danielle Gibson; brothers, Merlin, Clement and Wayne Black.
The family invites you to a memorial service to honor his life on May 8 at 2 p.m. at Lotz Funeral Home in Salem, Virginia.
The family requests contributions in Eldon’s name are made to the American Legion Post #3 or The Salem Rescue Squad in lieu of sending flowers.
