HAMILTON – Carole A. Masker, 71, passed away on Thursday, April 22, 2010 at her home.
She was born on Nov. 12, 1938, the daughter of Kenneth and Irene Decker Cahill in New Milford. Carole was a graduate of Warwick High School. On Oct. 14, 1956, in Warwick, she married Freeman W. Masker. Carole embraced farming; she had a love for animals, gardening, and flowers. In the early years, she was always at her husband’s side doing what needed to be done to run a farm, plus be a mother to her children. Freeman and Carole purchased the Red Gate Farm, a large farming operation in 1968. Together, they worked their farm for over 32 years, retiring in 2000. Their loving union ended with Freeman’s passing in 2005. Carole also had worked hard to obtain her Emergency Medical Technicians certificate, and had served as a volunteer. One of Carole’s greatest loves was having her family gather together at the family camps at Mud Pond and Hatch Lake.
Carole is survived by her mother, Irene Cahill of Warwick; her daughter, Dawn Palmer and her partner, Peter Lounsbury of Sherburne; two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Marybeth Masker of Ontario, and Darrell and Dianne Masker of Madison; her sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Robert Ibbetson of Warwick; her beloved grandchildren, Kimberly, Brian, Daniel and Derrick Masker, and Leanne and Stacy Palmer; and one great-grandson, Chad Masker.
