Harley Richer Jr.


GREER, S.C. – Harley Richer Jr., 85, of 307 Jones Ave., died April 22, 2010 at his residence.
A native of South Otselic, son of the late Harley Richer, Sr. and Myrtle Timmerman Richer, he was an employee of B.F. Gladding, South Otselic, for 37 years, he retired from Theodore Accounting Firm, a U.S. Army WWII Veteran and of the Methodist faith. Mr. Richer was an avid fisherman, golfer and bowler. He was a member of The American Legion for 61 years, and a member of Masonic Lodge for 51 years where he served as District Deputy Grand Master.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara Whorrall Richer of the home; two daughters, Karen Smith of Atlanta, Ga., and Kathleen MacLean of Jacksonville, Fla.; a brother, Robert Richer of Norwich; a sister, Doris Livermore of Cincinnatus; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
Mr. Richer was predeceased by a son, David Harley Richer.
Visitation will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday at Valley View Cemetery in South Otselic.
