Velva J. Crosby-Wakefield
Velva J. Crosby-Wakefield, 63, of Norwich passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2023, in the Albany Medical Center.
Velva was born in Norwich on February 16, 1960 the daughter of Russell and Virginia (Nye) Crosby. She spent her life in the Norwich area and attended the Sherburne schools. She had been employed by the ARC program as well as Catholic Charities in Norwich.
Velva was tough and had a very strong work ethic. She was always full of sunshine and loved taking care of everyone as well as cooking. She was very artistic, enjoyed sewing and crocheting.
Velva is survived by her children; Elizabeth Novas and her fiancee Izmir Jackson of McDonough, Lindsay Wakefield and companion Patrick Donnelly of Norwich, Denise (Paul) Gaters of Norwich and Erica Gonzalez of Norwich along with 18 grandchildren, six great grandchildren with one on the way. Also surviving are her siblings Philip (Steph) Crosby and Leo Crosby.
At Velva’s request there will be no public services or calling hours.
