Dorothy M. Morey


Dorothy M. Morey, 100, of Oneonta, NY, formerly of Earlville, passed away Thursday, November 24, 2022 at A.O. Fox Nursing Home.
She was born on September 20, 1922 in Randallsville, NY, a daughter of Harry and Clara Finch Fleming and was a 1940 graduate of Hamilton High School. On November 22, 1940, Dorothy married Dever Morey in Randallsville and they shared a loving union for 34 years until he passed away on December 27, 1974. Dorothy had worked for the Earlville Paper Box Company for several years until retiring in 1987.
She was a former member of the First United Methodist Church in Earlville where she taught Sunday school. Dorothy was an active and dedicated member of her community. She was a member and Past Noble Grand of the Madinango Rebekah Lodge #563 of Earlville; an honorary member and Past President of the Earlville Fire Department Auxiliary; a former member and Past President of the Madison County Firemen’s Auxiliary; Past President and a former member of the Board of Trustees of the Quincy Square Museum in Earlville; a former member of the Earlville Opera House; past member and Captain of the Earlville Neighborhood Watch; former member of the Madison County Board of Elections and the Village of Earlville Board of Elections.
Surviving are her children, Kenneth Morey and his wife, Karen Morey of Sanford, NC; and Paula Morey Waghorn of Oneonta; grandchildren, Larisa (Mark)Waghorn-Muller of Gilbertsville; Todd Waghorn and Aaron Waghorn, both of Eugene, OR; Michelle (Jeffrey) Kelley of Newberry Port, MA; Suzanne Morey of Sherill, NY; Allison Dail of Wake Forest, NC; great-grandchildren, Hannah (Jeremy) Hamilton, Michael Strenck (Heather Nolan), Jack Waghorn, Mason Waghorn, Brendan Kelley, Ayden Dail; great-great-grandchildren, Felicity, Roczen and Hudson; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Fred, John, Harold and William Fleming, and two sisters, Marion Fleming Getman and Mildred Fleming Howlett and a son-in-law, Robert Waghorn.
Memorial Services will be held at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 3 Preston St., Earlville at a later date.Interment will be in the Earlville Cemetery.
