Raymond Ross


MT. UPTON – Raymond Donald Ross, 71, of Mt. Upton, passed away Thursday, Oct.19, 2006 at his home after a long illness.
He was born June 18, 1935, son of the late Kingsley and Mildred (Cole) Ross in Rockland.
Ray attended Kellogg Central School in Treadwell. He married Shirley Bernadine Norton on Oct. 9, 1954 in the Presbyterian Church in Rome. Ray was a local self-employed contractor, he retired in 1992. He enjoyed boating, camping and bow hunting.
Ray is survived by his wife, Shirley Ross of Mt. Upton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Kinglsey and Sandy Ross of Sidney and Michael and Karen Ross of Mt. Upton; four daughters and sons-in-law, Jacqueline and Al Dewitt of Oxford, Peggy and Dan Quiter of Mt. Upton, Sherry and Jack Whaley of Norwich and Sandra Warren and Fiance’ Joe Musarelli of Harpursville; 13 grandchildren, Heather Cummings, Danny Quiter, Kristen Quiter, Ray Ross, Dawn Pickens, Chris Ross, Alicia Ross, Craig Ross, Kelsey Ross, Brianna Whaley, Cameron Whaley, Kara Schaeffer and Kale Warren along with four great-grandchildren, Kolbie Cummings, Aliya Pickens, Kenyon and Nicholas Bertrand.
He was predeceased by a grandson, Spencer Whaley; a great-granddaughter, Emily Garcia; a brother, Frank Ross and a sister, Aggie Affron.
Friends may call Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church on the corner of West Main St. and Circle Drive, Sidney. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Mt. Upton.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Chenango County, 21 Hayes St., Norwich.
