SHERBURNE – Mrs. Helen Sornberger, 84, of Sherburne, passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at Chenango Memorial Hospital, Norwich.
She was born on Aug. 22, 1925 in Brooklyn, a daughter of the late Robert and Charlotte Blaney and received her education in Brooklyn Schools. She was united in marriage to Peter Sornberger, Jr. who predeceased her. Helen was employed as a bookkeeper for Elvine Knitting Mills in Glendale, until her retirement. She had been a Sherburne area resident since 1970.
Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law Peter R. and Patricia Sornberger of Sherburne; Albert Sornberger of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; a brother and sister-in-law William and Marion Blaney of Boca Raton, Fla.; her grandchildren Heather and Todd Bigger; Laura Sornberger and Erin Sornberger; great-grandchildren Gabriella and Owen Bigger; and a niece Leatrice Blaney. She was predeceased by her daughter-in-law Janice Sornberger.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home 10 S. Main St. Sherburne. Interment will follow in the Sherburne Quarter Cemetery.
Friends are invited and may call Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
