George Meringola III


George Meringola III was born on Feb. 19,1957 in Huntington, NY to George and Betty Meringola. George passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loved ones after a long illness.  
He was the oldest of five children.  He is survived by his mother, Betty and sisters, Deborah, Nancy, and Hannah.  He is predeceased by his father, George and brother, John.
After graduating from Harborfield High School in June of 1975, George served in the U.S. Army as a military police.  He was stationed at Seneca Army Depot in Romulus, NY when he met his wife, Noreen Golliver.  They were united in marriage on March 30, 1978.  They were stationed in Anchorage, Alaska where their oldest son, George IV was born.  After discharge they relocated back to New York.
George is survived by his wife, Noreen and their children- George IV (Rhonda), Heath (Danielle), and Rebecca; granddaughters: Nevaeh and Finley; and grandsons- Garett and Koltyn. He is also survived by sister and brother in laws- Audrey Golliver,  Maryann and Joanne Palmer, Coreen and Dan Blair, Joann Maresca, and George Golliver Jr. and  several nieces and nephews.
He was also predeceased by his in-laws- George Sr. and Hannah (Joan) Golliver and his grandson Isaac Michael Perry Meringola.
George worked for the Town of Oxford, Cook Park, Coca Cola, as a substitute driver for the Pennysaver and retired following a injury while employed for the Village of Oxford.
George enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, trapping, fishing, camping, spending time with his children and grandchildren, and gardening.  He was a NYS licensed guide and had his nuisance control license.  
George was a member of Lake Ludlow, Atwell Fish and Game Club, and Whitestown Legion Post 1113 and was a past member of the Oxford Rod and Gun Club.  
George and his family spent the last 22 years camping at Kayuta Lake Campground in Forestport, NY where he made many friends and was also part of a “camp family” — Gary and Cindy Eckerson, Mark and Lori Chmielowiec, Chris and Robin Komorek, Richard (Fish) Fischer and Colleen Furno, Mark and Bonnie Button, Kevin and Debbie Hall.
The family would also like to thank our neighbors Mary and Ken Smith, Dennis and Tammy Williams, and Debi and Whitney Gross for your thoughtfulness during this last year. 
Many thanks to the staff and especially the nurses in the ambulatory unit of CMH who have been there every other week for his infusions and to the nurses on the 3rd floor for the care he received his last days before coming home with Chenango County Hospice care.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Behe Funeral Home.
George’s family is honoring his wishes so there will be no services.
