Linda L. Oehme


Linda L. Oehme, 70, of South Plymouth, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2022, at her residence with her loving family by her side.
Born on February 24, 1952, in Allentown, PA, Linda was the daughter of Cleave and M. Betty Jane (Peters) Yeahl. She was a 1972 graduate of Allen High School, in Allentown. After graduating, Linda earned a bachelor’s degree from Kutztown University and later finished coursework at SUNY New Paltz. Linda worked from 1980-2009 at the Orange-Ulster BOCES, in Goshen, teaching blind and visually impaired students. After retiring, she relocated to the Norwich area where she and her husband built a home in South Plymouth.
Linda was very active at the United Church of Christ, First Congregational. She led the youth and children education and related activities, was on the deacon’s committee, sang in the choir, and organized the church’s annual Thanksgiving turkey giveaway event. She was also a Chenango Hospice volunteer, as well as a volunteer at the Northeast Classic Car Museum. Outside of all these activities, Linda enjoyed sewing and bowling.
On June 15, 1974, in Allentown, Linda married her beloved husband, Robert K. Oehme, who survives. Linda is also survived by her mother, M. Betty Jane Yeahl, of Norwich; children, Jennifer Mallozzi, and her husband, Christopher, of Norwich, and Jessica Posner, and her husband, Justin, of Ellenville; and granddaughter, Melodie Posner.
A memorial service for Linda will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at the United Church of Christ, First Congregational, where the Rev. Jason Boyd, pastor, will officiate. Burial will take place at the South Plymouth Cemetery at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours.
The family wishes to extend its sincere appreciation to the staff of Hospice of Chenango County for the compassionate care they extended to Linda and her family.
