Payton Allen Stirone

Payton Allen Stirone, 22, of Gilbertsville, died unexpectedly on July 23, 2022 as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was born September 27, 1999 in East Stroudsburg, PA, the son of Christopher and Jennifer (Weiss) Stirone. Growing up in the New Berlin area, he graduated in the Unadilla Valley Central School Class of 2018.
Payton worked locally as a cellular tower technician for Protel in Norwich. He would often send pictures to his mother of himself performing stunts at the top of cell towers, much to his mom’s great consternation.
For leisure, Payton enjoyed sports, including hunting and fishing, golfing with his brothers and friends, and riding four-wheelers. For several years, he competed in the demolition derby at the Otsego County Fair, and even competed in the derby at the Chenango County Fair once or twice.
Payton had a big heart, and could always put a smile on your face. He held a special place in his heart of his dogs. He was the “glue” that held his family together after the death of his grandmother, always urging his family to get together on special occasions.
Payton is survived by his parents, Christopher (Dawn) Stirone and Jennifer Stirone (Jerome Conroy); his brothers, Nick, Chris, Xavier, and Nico Stirone; his sister, Mia Stirone; his step-siblings, Jerika and Joe Conroy; his sister-in-law, Abigail “Abbie” Stirone; his niece, Rosemarie Stirone; and his nephew, Luca Stirone; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his grandmother, Rosemarie Weiss; and his cousin, Angel Vazquez.
A memorial gathering for Payton will be held beginning at 12 p.m. on August 20, at the Genegantslet Fire Co., 5229 State Highway 41, Greene, NY. Please visit the Facebook page “Payton Stirone Celebration of Life” for further details.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to R.J. Fahy Funeral Home, 116 N. Broad St., Norwich, to help Payton’s family with the cost of his final expenses.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared with Payton’s family at www.fahyfuneralhome.com.
