Verda H. (Sayles) Wehner


Verda H. (Sayles) Wehner, 79, formerly of Cincinnatus, NY, passed away on Monday, July 18, 2022, at The Commons on St. Anthony, Auburn, NY, while surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Norwich, NY, on February 24, 1943, Verda was the daughter of the late Clarence and Cleone (King) Sayles. Prior to her retirement, she had worked at the Cincinnatus Sr. Citizen Home and at the Chenango County Office of the Aging. She was a member of the Cincinnatus Fire Department Auxiliary and the Cincinnatus Area Heritage Society. She had also served as a board member for the North Pitcher Cemetery Association and a 4-H leader for the Cincy Supremes. Most of all, Verda was a mom to the friends of all her children.
She is survived by her children, Valerie (Michael) Bush of Jordan, Bryce (Rhonda) Wehner of Cincinnatus, Belinda (Jason W. Totman) Wehner of Homer, and Logan (Maradie) Wehner of Washington, GA. She also leaves behind 15 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Richard Angle and Michael Timmerman; sisters-in-law, Donna Sayles and Sara Phillips; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Wehner, in 1986; a great-grandchild, Presley Gleason; and siblings, Elma Wright, Florence Hammond, Myrtle Angle, Patricia Morse, Edward Sayles and Margaret Smith.
The family will be present to receive friends at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY, on Thursday, July 21, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services for Verda will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 11:00 a.m. with Fred M.S. Downs officiating. Burial will be in North Pitcher Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Verda may be directed to the Cincinnatus Area Heritage Society, c/o Ron Colasurdo – Treasurer, P.O.
