G. Stephen Simpson


(July 31, 1927 to July 5, 2022.)
G. Stephen Simpson, known to everyone as Steve, went to his heavenly home on the morning of July 5, 2022. He was born on July 31, 1927 to William and Lillian Simpson in Rock Rift, NY. He is predeceased by his parents, his brothers, William, Leon and Frank, his sisters Doris and Nora, his son George Jr., his first wife Domiana and his second wife, Joanne.
He is survived by his son, Michael (Betty) Simpson, his daughters Louise Jones and Doris McNitt, 10 grandchildren, Lino (Vicki) Maldonado, Scott (Shannon) Maldonado, Cynthia (Michael) Ward, Elizabeth (Matthew) Woolford, Stephanie (Brian) Okuniewski, Michael (Jennifer) Simpson, Steve (Misty) Simpson, Cristen Simpson, Aubry Simpson, Danetta (Mike) Cary, Teresa (Thomas) MacLaughlan, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He is also survived by his wife Rose; his step-children, Jason (Michelle) Magistro and Brandy (Jeremiah) Brown; step grandchildren Joseph & Abby Magistro, Kylie, Samantha & Thomas Brown.
He was a wonderful man who loved and enjoyed life. Steve’s younger years were spent in Walton, NY. After graduating high school, he joined the Army National Guard and became a tank commander in the Artillery Division. He lived most of his life in Norwich, NY, originally as a car salesman and then as the owner and operator of Creative Custom Upholstery with his wife Joanne. He was also a talented artist and painted many lifelong treasures for his family. He was blessed with a long and enriched life. He moved to Florida in July 2021 where
his daughter, Louise, lives.
He was the most loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be sorely missed by all of us.
A Memorial Service will be Saturday, July 16, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Emerald Coast Funeral Home with military honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Steve will be laid to rest in St Paul’s Cemetery, in Norwich NY, with his beloved wife Joanne and their faithful pup, Patter.
