John Nelson Beckwith, 58, Beloved husband, father, and grandfather of Norwich passed away surrounded by family on May 23, 2022 in Marietta, GA.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), 61 E Main Street. Norwich, NY, at 11 am on Saturday, July 23rd. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Norwich Girls/Boys Basketball Boosters.
John was born December 17, 1963, the son of Gordon and Evelyn Jacqueline Beckwith. He attended Norwich City Schools where he was a member of marching band and varsity football. Following his 1981 graduation from Norwich High School, he attended Rochester Institute of Technology and studied Information Technology. He worked in the industry for 20 + years where he made many personal connections and was able to fulfill his love of traveling. He was a lifelong Syracuse sports fan, a skilled gardener, fantastic cook, and lover of music; particularly the blues.
John is survived by his wife Cindy; two daughters, Lindsay Aruya (Ehizeme) and Logan Parker (Garrett); a step-daughter, Lisa Brown (Matt); two step-sons, Jimmy and Matt Farbo; three grandchildren, Isabel, Maxton and Corinne; four sisters, Julie Beckwith, Jackie Cooley, Joan Nesbitt, and June Beneke; nieces, nephews, and many dear friends whom he regarded as family. John is predeceased by his parents, Gordon and Evelyn Jacqueline Beckwith; and brother, Gordon David Beckwith.
John cared very deeply for everyone in his life and had many passions. He will be greatly missed.
