Edward Abildness


BAINBRIDGE – Edward H. Abildness, 85, passed away peacefully Oct. 18, 2006 at home in Palmyra, Va.
He was born on Sept. 18, 1921 on Staten Island. He is survived by his loving wife, Eleanor, of 57 years; also by two sons, James E. (Abby) of Hershey, PA and Jeffrey M. of Bainbridge, NY; two daughters, Linda (Larry) Thompson of W. Sand Lake, NY and Susan (Bruce) Watts of Lebanon, Pa.; two sisters, Ruth Piliere from Palmyra, VA and Irene (Allen) Ericksen from E. Hampton, CT; also 13 grandchildren, two great-grandsons and several cousins.
He was a World War II Navy Veteran, serving in the Pacific as a Radioman, First Class.  He retired after 31 years of service to Norwich-Eaton Pharmaceuticals Procter & Gamble in Norwich, where he raised his family and resided for 33 years.  In 1985 he and his wife moved to Lake Monticello, Va.  He was a member of the Cunningham United Methodist Church, where a memorial service will be held at 3PM Saturday, Oct. 21, officiated by Rev. Emerson Shelton.  A light reception will immediately follow, at the church.  Internment, at the Noth Guilford Cemetary in Guilford, NY is scheduled for a future date.
 In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the Cunningham United Methodist Church, 5436 Ruritan Lake Rd., Palmyra, VA 22963; or the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., FL 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
