Johanne (Susie) Thomsen Daniels


Johanne (Susie) Thomsen Daniels, 78, longtime resident of Holmesville, NY, only recently moved to Ninilchik, AK, passed away after a brief illness at South Peninsula Hospital in Homer, AK.
 Born June 22, 1943, at Chenango Memorial Hospital in Norwich, NY, she was one of 4 children of John and Mae Nelson Thomsen. She graduated in South New Berlin Central School Class of 1961. On July 22, 1961, she married Ronald Charles Daniels in Holmesville, NY. They lived in South New Berlin, Endwell, Apalachin, and Holmesville. Johanne was a homemaker who spent her life serving her family and others.
 Johanne was a member of Holmesville Baptist Church for most of her life. She served on many church committees, was active in the Ladies Missionary Fellowship, and was the Sunshine Chairman for many years. She was an avid supporter of the NRA. She enjoyed deer hunting and shooting at the Rockdale Rod and Gun Club. She was a board member of the Riverside Cemetery Association of South New Berlin, NY. She also served as a Republican election polling worker for many years. 
 She enjoyed making beautiful homemade cards for many people she knew and loved. Her cardmaking was a wonderful ministry of encouragement to others. She was active in a swimming class and loved playing games with her friends.
 Surviving are one daughter Karen of Newberry Springs, CA; daughter-in-law Vicky of Ninilchik, AK, and grandchildren Abigail (and Kyle) Souza, Caleb (and Esther), and Joanna; son Steven and daughter-in-law Joanne of Ninilchik, AK, and grandchildren Jacob, Anna, Wyatt, and Joshua; son Matthew and daughter-in-law Emmy of Pinedale, WY, and grandchildren Thane, Adrianna, Noah, and Maegan; one brother Bob Thomsen of New Berlin, NY; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Ronald; two sons, Andrew and Kevin; a granddaughter, Naomi; and two brothers, Bill and Jerry.
There will be a private burial at the Daniels Homestead in Ninilchik, AK, on April 3, 2022. A memorial service will be held in Holmesville later this spring. In lieu of flowers, donations can be designated to help with expenses or sent to Red Cliff Bible Camp, P.0. Box 846, Pinedale, WY 82941, to help with the Lodge Rebuild Project (original building burned down in 2017).
