Robin Crouse Leinbach, 77, of Earlville, passed away on February 25, 2022. Robin was born in Albany, NY. She attended Guilderland High School and Cortland State University, where she graduated with a teaching degree.
She married her husband, Philip Leinbach, in November 1966. After Philip finished his schooling, they settled into their forever home on Route 12B between Sherburne and Earlville.
She began her teaching career in in Fabius-Pompey in 1966. She also taught for Cortland City School and Sherburne-Earlville Central School before taking years off to stay home with her 3 children until they were all school age. In that time, she provided daycare for other families where she continued to influence young people’s lives. She went back to teaching in 1986 for Otselic Valley Central Schools at Georgetown Elementary teaching 6th grade and retired in 2008.
Robin and Phil were known to many as inseparable. They were best friends, and it was easy to see how well they complimented each other. Robin was a caregiver by nature. Nothing showed this more than the last few years of her life taking care of her husband.
She was a matriarchal figure in the community and was always ready to offer support to anyone in need. She could also be strong willed and spoke what she believed, but that somehow made her even more endearing.
Robin volunteered her time in the community and was heavily involved in the United Church of Christ for her 50+ years in Sherburne. She was involved in the Sherburne Music Theater Society in her younger years. Robin and Phil enjoyed music and would sing along to songs together in the car regularly.
Robin could brighten any room she entered with her bigger than life personality. She was sure to be ready to have a conversation with anyone she ran into. Her humor was something that endeared her, and she loved a good laugh. She was accepting of all and loved by many; and formed many lifelong friendships.
Robin was the center of her family and kept them together through any hardships. She was a good listener and had a way of comforting in even the worst times. Her proudest accomplishments were her children. She would love to speak about the family which included grand and great grandchildren. She was so proud of the men her sons had grown to be and the families that they now have of their own. She also loved her extended family and always was in contact with nieces, nephews, and their families.
She is no longer with us, but her spirit is sure to live on with her family and friends and those who knew her well. The Sherburne community will not be the same without her familiar face being seen around town.
Robin was predeceased by her mother, Esther and father, Stuart. She is survived by her sons, Eric (Deb), Todd (Kelly) and Brian (Tracie). She had many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her brother Stuart and sister Vivian.
Services will be held at the United Church of Christ, located at 1 S. Main St., Sherburne at 1pm on Saturday, March 26th. Celebration of life to be held after the service from 2-5pm at the former Magro’s Banquet Hall located at 103A Sanitarium Rd, Sherburne.
