Clinton Sabin


SHERBURNE – Clinton P. Sabin, 90, of State Hwy. 12, passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at Community Memorial Hospital, Hamilton.
He was born Dec. 31, 1919 in Sherburne, a son of Alfred Clinton and Mary Bingham Sabin. He was a life long Sherburne resident and a graduate of Sherburne High School. Clinton married Jeanne Reynolds on Sept. 26, 1947 in Sherburne. She predeceased him on Dec. 19, 1999. Mr. Sabin was a farmer who raised chickens and grew peas and strawberries. He was most noted for his beautiful cut flowers, especially the gladioli that he displayed and sold at the Norwich Farmers Market for over 50 years. He was an accomplished musician who played violin in the pit orchestra for local musicals, and also repaired string instruments. He had worked for Sherburne-Earlville Central School until his retirement in 1985.
Mr. Sabin attended the First United Methodist Church in Sherburne. He was a member of the Sherburne Grange #1400 for many years.
Surviving are his children, David C. Sabin of Syracuse; Sylvia L. Sabin, Stephen L. and Rebecca Sabin, all of Sherburne; and a grandchild, Lauren Sollecito-Sabin. A sister, Helen Sabin predeceased him.
A celebration of Clinton‚s life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 3 at the First United Methodist Church, Chapel St., Sherburne.
Interment will be in the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany Cemetery, Sherburne.
There will be no calling hours.
