Herman L. Von Hassel, 87, of Otselic, passed away Monday January 24, 2022 at his home.
He was born October 5, 1934 in New York City, the son of Herman and Anna Rapple Von Hassel.
Herman was a dairy farmer his entire life and he always said “he lived the American dream.” He was a member of the Norwich American Legion.
Surviving are his daughters Kathleen (Jerry) Loomis and Frieda (Darin) Smith of South Plymouth; son Herman “Andy”(Lynn) VonHassel of Otselic; grandchildren Erica (Robert) Guyer, Jessica (Jacob) DeRoche, Connor and Carter Smith, Herman and Frank VonHassel; great grandson Griffin Guyer.
He was predeceased by his wife Claire.
The Funeral service will be Saturday at noon at Smith Funeral Home DeRuyter. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Otselic.
 A calling hour will be from 11 a.m. to noon  on  Saturday at the Funeral Home.
