Thomas Engaczak Sr.


SIDNEY – Thomas A. Egnaczak Sr., 88, of Sidney, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2010 at Binghamton General Hospital in Binghamton.
He was born July 31, 1921, son of the late Andrew and Michalene (Nowak) Egnaczak in Olean. Tom served his country in the United States Army from 1943 to 1946.
Tom married Eunice Weeks on Feb. 14, 1948 in Bainbridge, she predeceased him on July 12, 1988. He later married Marian Laraway Hinkley on Aug. 4, 2003.
Tom loved the time on his farm in Guilford and enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family.
He attended the United Methodist Church in Sidney and was a member of the Charles L. Jacobi American Legion Post #183 in Sidney.
He is survived by his wife, Marian Hinkley Egnaczak, Sidney; two daughters, Brenda Barnard and James Scotti of Guilford and Debra and Howard Butler, Bainbridge; a son, Edward A. and Eileen Egnaczak of Guilford; two step-daughters, Diane and Bernard Mogelever of New York, New York and Sandra and Robert Matteson of Jonesboro, Ga.; a step-son, William and Phyllis Hinkley, Binghamton; 12 grandchildren, five step-grandchildren several great grandchildren nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was also predeceased by his son, Thomas A. Egnaczak, Sister, Mary Snyder. Brothers Raymond, Steven, Chester, John, Frank and Joseph.
Friends may call Thursday from 1-3 p.m. at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel 21 Main St. Sidney. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. with Rev. Barbara Green pastor of the Sidney United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Nineveh Presbyterian Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Tom’s name to the Sidney United Methodist Church 12 Liberty St. Sidney, NY 13838; or the American Heart Association at www.americanheart.org.
