Charles W. Wray, 82, of Sherburne passed away Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at his home. He was born in Floyd, VA on June 5, 1939 a son of the late James and Erslea Agnew Wray. Charlie went to school in Floyd, he quit school early to help his Mother after the passing of his father. He started in the telephony business working with his brothers as a lineman. He was always a hard worker and worked his way to being a Senior OSP Engineer. Charlie retired after 35+ years with Frontier (Continental, Contel, GTE, Citizens Communications) and went on to work many more with contracting companies. He truly loved what he did. Charlie was a happy and funny guy who never met a stranger.
Charlie was a former member of the Sherburne Rotary, the Andover Lions Club, the Dundee Jaycee’s, the Volunteer Fire Departments of Spencer, Dundee and Andover and a member of the (RCA)Race Communications Association as a flagman, but his real love was for his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years Lisette Seeley Peck Wray, Children; George (Debbie) Wray of Quapaw, OK, Gretchen Boise (Shanon Lane) of Sherburne, Aimee (Doug) Newman of Sherburne, Brigette Losee (Brad Farrow, Jr.) of Hamilton, Dan Losee of Sherburne; grandchildren; Amanda Newman, Heather Rockwell, Jason Reeves, Justin and Rachel Wray, Lorri and Chance Jones, Cassidy Gaven Wheeler (Brittany Manwarren), Cody Boise, April Conder (Roman Pena), Hannah (Cameron) Whaley, Paige Losee, Daniel Losee Jr, Landry Farrow, George Wray, JR., Katie Wray; great grandchildren; Michael, Blaine, Lennon, Abel, MJ, Oliver, River, Lucius, Isabella, McKenna, Asa, Sloan, Trace, Huxley. His Siblings; Corine Albert, Mary (Harold) Mullins and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his siblings and their spouses; Annie (Wilmer) Harris, Thurman Wray, Herman Wray, Ruth (Russell) Young, Rufus
(Glenna) Wray, RK Albert, Herbert (Judy) Wray, Imogene Wray, Johnny Wayne Wray, and Wanda (Vernon) Nolley.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at 6:00 PM for friends and family from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 South Main St. Sherburne, NY 13460. Internment will be at the convenience of the family. Visitations will be held on Tuesday from 4-6 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
Contributions in his memory may be made to Hospice of Chenango County, 33-39 Court St. Norwich, NY 13815 or to the Sherburne or Greene EMS, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
