Kota (Dakota) (Shayla) Flood


Kota (Dakota) (Shayla) Flood, born in Cooperstown NY on February 1, 2007, passed away unexpectedly at his home on October 5, 2021. He was 14 years old. Kota was a student at the Milford Central school, having just transferred there this school year and previously had lived in Oneonta and attended Oneonta City Schools.
Kota was known for his contagious smile, artistic abilities, and his love of skateboarding. He had wrestled with the Oneonta wrestling team and was known for his tenacity on the wrestling mat. He had also done gymnastics through the Oneonta YMCA and was a member of the Oneonta Middle School Soccer team. Kota will also be remembered for his love of animals; he had such a giving heart. On several of his birthdays he requested to have donations made to local animal shelters instead of receiving gifts. His selfless soul will forever be remembered with a smile and overwhelming knowledge that he was a gift in the lives of his family.
Kota is survived by his loving grandparents, Michelle and Curtis Yax of Milford NY. His sister Abygail Flood of Oneonta NY, an uncle Joshua Yax of Milford NY, Cousin Jillian Lattenhauer of Milford NY and his father, Ryan Flood of Franklin. As well as many friends who he and they felt were family in their hearts.
Kota was predeceased by his mother Willow Yax on May 22, 2010.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Behe Funeral Home Inc.

Friends and family may call at the funeral home on October 23, 2021, from 10:00 AM until 12:00PM, when the casket will be open, and 1:00PM until 3:00PM with the casket closed .Funeral services will follow at 3:00PM. The family is requesting donations be sent to Superheroes in Ripped Jeans, 697 Winney Hill Rd, Oneonta NY or to the Otsego Pride Alliance in Kota’s memory. The funeral home is also accepting donations to go toward funeral expenses.
