Margaret M. Sibley

Margaret M. Sibley of Norwich died Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Chenango Memorial Hospital in Norwich. She was 87 years old.
She was born February 19, 1934 in Sidney, NY, the daughter of Leal M. and Marjorie Osborne-Thorpe Harrington.
She graduated from the Guilford Central School Class of 1952, and served as a waitress and short-order cook in various area restaurants, before finishing her career as Head Cook at Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Most important, Margaret was a musician, playing and singing. She played the cordovox and the accordion in Country and Western settings, as well as solo engagements where “old standards” were required. These included wedding receptions, as well as gala events, etc. As demands upon her time later in her career prevented her from such a hectic schedule, she only played special occasions with her brother, Kenneth.
Margaret is survived by her daughters: Kathryn M. Niles (Lisa Leber) of Castle Creek, Karen M. (Anthony) Reiss of Maineville, OH, and Karolyn (Paul) Beltz of Norwich; her grandchildren: Ronda (Donald) Reigada, Damian C. Jennings, Anthony E. Reiss II, Danielle E. Reiss, Elijah (Suzanne) Beltz, Jonah (Shannon) Beltz, and Micah Beltz and his fiancée Danielle Potter; 10 great-grandchildren, many step-grandchildren, and many cherished nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers and sister, and her second husband, Lyle DeMorier.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, October 10 at Calvary Baptist Church, 75 Calvary Drive, Norwich, with the Rev. Elijah D. Beltz officiating. Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., prior to the service, at the church.
Burial will take place in North Afton Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a tax deductible donation to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, at 822 8th Avenue, 16th Floor., New York, NY, 10001, or by visiting their website: alzfdn.org.
