Melba Phillips, 75, of South Plymouth, NY passed away on Monday, October 4, 2021, at the Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Melba was born in Norwich on April 21, 1946 the daughter of Lloyd and Olive (Steadman) Sayles and was a 1964 graduate of the Norwich High School. While living in the Norwich area she had been employed by GLA and its successors, Chenango Memorial Hospital and also worked as a waitress for several area restaurants. Melba will best be remembered as a sales representative for AVON which she did for over 40 years. Throughout this time she had been the recipient of many awards from the company and made many long lasting friendships. She also had spent some time in Virginia Beach where she worked at construction.
Melba was also a great lover of animals especially her feline friends.
Melba is survived by her siblings Margaret Wilcox of Tupper Lake, NY, Evelyn Sayles of East Pharsalia and Martin Sayles of South Plymouth along with several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband David Phillips on June 30, 1973 and her sister Linda Collier.
There will be no formal service at this time and burial will be in the Union Cemetery of Edmeston.
