Teresa M. Matott


Teresa M. Matott, 90, of Sherburne, passed away Monday, September 27, 2021 at the Norwich Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
She was born on May 15, 1931 in DeKalb Junction, NY, a daughter of the late Clarence and Irene Hance Hayden. Teresa received her education in local schools and graduated as the Salutatorian of the class of 1950 at DeKalb Junction High School. On May 13, 1951, she married Burton W. “Burt” Matott in Canton, NY. They shared a loving union of over 68 years until he predeceased her on February 22, 2020. Teresa was the bookkeeper for their recreational sales and service business, Burton W. Matott, Inc., from 1962 until retiring.
A devout Catholic, Teresa was a communicant of St. Malachy’s Church in Sherburne and a former member of the Altar and Rosary Society.
Surviving are her children, Burton W., Jr. “Moose” and Doris Matott of Norwich; James and Maria Matott, Mark and Tammy Matott, all of North Norwich; her grandchildren, Kacie, Stacey, Mary, Jackie, Dalton, Garrett, Gina, Anthony, Megan (Mat) Voorhees, Sarah (Soehee) Park-Matott; great grandchildren, Tyler, Zoey, Kirby, Koda, James and Amber. Also surviving are her sisters-in-law, Alaine McGill, Elaine Terry and Thelma Matott, all of Caton. She was predeceased by a son, Larry D. Matott in 2007.
Graveside services will be held at a later date in the Jerusalem Cemetery, Eddy, NY.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne.
