Barry L. Whorrall


SOUTH OTSELIC – Barry L. Whorrall, 53, passed away on Thursday, March 11, 2010, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Barry was a lifelong resident of South Otselic and graduated from Otselic Valley Central School in 1975. His 26 year career as a New York State corrections officer provided him with countless friends from Camp Georgetown. He loved the great outdoors. He was an enthusiastic fisherman and hunter who liked to share with others his knowledge and skills, especially with his son and nephews. He enjoyed family time and watching his grandchildren play. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by those who knew him.
Barry is survived by his wife of 34 years, Lisa (Cole) Whorrall of Otselic; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Keith Golden of Maine, NY; son and girlfriend, Corey Whorrall and Brandi Rosier of Norwich. He was the proud Pop-Pop of two grandchildren, Leighanne and Kyle. Also left behind are his mother, Marilyn Whorrall of Kirkville, step-mother, Blanche Whorrall of Otselic; brother, Terry and Patti Whorrall of Virginia Beach, Va.; sister, Sherry Kemak of Kirkville; sister, Mary Powell of Brookfield; brother, Jerry and Judy Whorrall of South Otselic; nieces and nephews including Chrissy Whorrall, Katrina Edick, Kip Kemak, Jamie Entwistle, Aaron Powell, Jonah Powell, Amanda Brown, Joshua Whorrall, and David Whorrall. His wife’s family consists of mother-in-law, Judy Cole of Sherburne; sister-in-law, Lori Cole and Mike Meacham of Sherburne; sister-in-law, Alyson and Brent Seymour of North Norwich; nieces and nephew, Haley and Dylan Seymour and Delaney Cook.  He was also known as “Uncle Barry” to countless others. Two of Barry’s lifelong friends are Samuel DePew and Thomas Campbell. He was predeceased by his father, Donald Whorrall, father-in-law, Gordon Cole, and nephew, Nicholas Whorrall. 
A Memorial Service and interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
Friends are invited to call at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne on Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
