John Parker


OXFORD – John D. Parker, 96, of Oxford, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2010 at the Gilmour Residential Health Care Facility in Norwich, surrounded by his loving family.
Born Sept. 12, 1913 in South New Berlin, John was the son of Calvin and Mary (Butts) Parker. He attended schools in South New Berlin and Plymouth before beginning his life-long career as a farmer. He owned his own farm in Oxford for many years, and also drove school bus in Oxford.
On April 27, 1938 he married Pauline Christman in South New Berlin.  She passed away in 1988. On July 29, 1989 in Smithville Flats he married Lois Huttleston, who survives.
John is also survived by his daughters Patricia Bolinger and her husband William of Earlville and Eleanor Marano and Steve Kman of Harpursville; grandchildren Michael and John Bolinger, Betty Clark and Betsy Petteler, Theresa Moore, Kimberly Thompson and Vicky Marano; and his niece Wanda Mazza of Arizona.  John is also survived by several great and great-great grandchildren.  
John loved his horses, snowmobiling, and especially enjoyed playing cards.
Funeral services for John will be held at the Behe Funeral Home on Wednesday at 1 p.m.  Rev. John Martin, pastor of the Oxford United Methodist Church, will officiate. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.  Burial will be in the spring in Riverside Cemetery in South New Berlin.
In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, the Alzheimer’s Association, or the charity of your choice.
