Evelyn Taylor


NORWICH – Evelyn Weeks Taylor, 96, died on Oct. 15, 2006 at the Presbyterian Residential Community in New Hartford.  
She was born on Jan. 16, 1910 in Norwich, to Elmer and Bessie Weeks. She was a graduate of Norwich High School and attended Syracuse University School of Nursing where she received an R.N. degree in 1933.
On June 1, 1935 she married Harold Taylor of Kingston, who died on Nov. 1, 1997.  They were residents of Clinton for 41 years and active members of the Clinton United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Taylor was a poet and a writer having had many of her poems published nationally. She was the author of, “Amelia, Pioneer Woman,”  a novel depicting her family’s history in early America.  She was a member of many writing guilds in the places she had lived throughout New York State. 
She was the owner of Evie’s Antiques, a small business in Clinton, and was a founding member of Clinton Questors.
Surviving are her son, Robert N. Taylor of Woodgate, New York, and daughter, Marcia L. Taylor of Newtown, Connecticut, three grandchildren, Gregory, Amanda and Jennifer Rutheny, and a great grand-daughter, Grace Rutheny.
There will be a private burial at Sunset Hill Cemetery in Clinton.
