Michael James Knickerbocker, 55, of Cincinnatus, NY, passed away on Thursday, February 4, 2021, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Mike was born in Cortland, NY, on March 4, 1965, the son of Francis and Arlene Banta Knickerbocker. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a 1983 graduate of Otselic Valley Central School where he was a well-recognized athlete. After receiving a soccer scholarship for being an outstanding athlete, he graduated from Mohawk Valley Community College in 1985. Most recently, he had been employed at Labrador Ski Resort as a chair lift operator. Mike was an avid musician who enjoyed playing guitar and listening to live music. During his life, he attended over 75 Grateful Dead Concerts and numerous bluegrass festivals. A loving son, brother and friend, he will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his father, Francis (Ann) Knickerbocker, of South Otselic; and his siblings, David (Sherry) Knickerbocker of Cincinnatus, Steven Knickerbocker of South Otselic, William (Shelley) Knickerbocker of Solon, and Margaret (Robert) Kage of Endicott. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his canine companions, Samson and Delilah.
He was predeceased by his mother, Arlene Knickerbocker, in 1999.
Funeral services will be held at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY, on Wednesday, February 10, 2021, at 7:00 p.m. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. NY State Covid-19 guidelines will be followed.
