SHERBURNE – Robert L. Jeffrey of Sherburne passed away Friday, Feb. 12, 2010 at the New York State Veterans’ Home, Oxford.
He was born in Sherburne, the son of the late Wallace and Frances Newman Jeffrey and received his education in Sherburne Schools and was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was united in marriage to the former Nora Jane McNeil in Norwich. Bob was employed by the Village of Sherburne DPW until his retirement. He also had worked for Wescar, Inc.
Mr. Jeffrey was a communicant of St. Malachy’s Church; a member of the American Legion Post # 876 of Sherburne and a honorary member of the Sherburne Vol. Fire Dept.
Surviving are his wife Nora; his children, Mary Anne Carpenter of Lee Center; Robert M. and Monica Jeffrey of Norwich; Theresa and Charles Mastro of Sherburne; a brother and sisters-in-law Charles and Sandy Jeffrey and Ruth Jeffrey, all of Sherburne; his grandchildren, Megan and Mark Carpenter, Robert, Christopher and Nicole Jeffrey and Matthew Mastro as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by three brothers John and Donald Jeffrey, Thomas Doyle and a sister Helen Jeffrey.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated this Wednesday at 11 a.m. from St. Malachy’s Church, State St. Sherburne.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no calling hours.
Interment with Military Honors will be held in the spring at St. Paul’s Cemetery, Norwich.

The family wishes to thank the staff at the NYS Veterans’ Home for the care and compassion shown to them and Mr. Jeffrey and they also would like to thank the friends he made there.
