Phyllis Margaret Pitzer Crawford


Phyllis Margaret Pitzer Crawford passed away at the Evolve Senior Care for Alzheimer’s and Dementia in Rye, New Hampshire on November 21, 2020. Phyllis was born May 13, 1932 in Great Neck, New York, and was the daughter of Allan C. and Margaret Darroch (Smith) George.
Phyllis graduated from Westminster College in 1954. Following her graduation, she married her college sweetheart, Lawrence R. Pitzer. Phyllis lived in many communities throughout her life, including Youngstown and North Canton Ohio; Cherry Hill, New Jersey; Norwich, New York; Highland Beach, Florida; and Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
Phyllis was an avid bridge player throughout her life, a longtime member of the Community Welcome Wagon in Norwich, volunteered often at community hospitals, and served as director of the American Red Cross blood drives in Norwich for many years.
In addition to her parents, Phyllis was predeceased by a son, Kurt, her husband Lawrence Pitzer, and sister Doris Williams. She is survived by her second husband Thomas Crawford; son and daughter-in-law David and Stephanie Pitzer; daughter and son-in-law Carol and Bryan Bridges; as well as grandchildren Kurt Pitzer and his significant other Sabrina Pry; Kathryn and Brian Frasier; Christopher Bridges; Andrew and Melanie Herrera-Bridges; great-grandchildren Jackson and Emma Frasier, and many nieces and nephews.
Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, a service of remembrance will not be held. Interment will be at the North Canton Zion Cemetery, North Canton, Ohio 44720 at a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to remember Phyllis are encouraged to make gifts in her honor to the Alzheimer’s Association.
