Douglas Marshall


SOUTH OTSELIC – Douglas E. Marshall, 49, of Churchill Road, South Otselic, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Oct. 15, 2006, at his camp in Herkimer County.
Born in Syracuse on March 20, 1957, Doug was the son of Francis and Barbara (Lawrence) Marshall. He was a 1975 graduate of the Otselic Valley High School, and a 24-year employee of the Chenango County Highway Dept., where he worked as a truck driver. Doug was a man with a big heart. Among the joys of his life was spending time with his children and grandchildren, hunting, bowling, playing horseshoes, and golf. He also loved to dance, drive around sight-seeing, fixing cars, and NASCAR racing. Doug was a life member of South Otselic American Legion Post #973.
Doug is survived by his companion, Maxine, of South Otselic; by his children and their spouses: Danielle Marshall of North Pitcher, Martina and Clifford Donnelly of Otselic, Cy and Nicole Marshall of Georgetown, Samantha and Richard Gould of Norwich, Zachary Marshall of South Otselic, Roy and Haley Marshall of South Otselic, Julie and Eric Cookingham of Plymouth, and Brian Simonet of Sherburne; and by the mother of his children, Kimberly DeLee Marshall. He is also survived by his sisters and their husbands: Tilly and Earl Palmer of Sherburne, Frances and Clifford Weeks of Rochester, Audrey and Wayne Stone of So. Plymouth, Dixie Livingston of Sherburne, Barbara and Darrell Foulds of Polkville, and Cynthia and Richard Lewis of Sherburne; his brothers and their wives: Peter and Laura Marshall of South Plymouth, Patrick and JoAnn Marshall of Sherburne, Ralph Marshall of Sherburne, and Randy and Annette Bradley of Cold Brook. Doug’s step-father, Charles DePew and wife Ellen of Otselic, his mother-in-law, Delphine DeLee of Plymouth, 12 grandchildren, several aunts, uncles nieces, nephews, and brothers- and sisters-in-law, plus his close friend, Paulie Carson of South Otselic, also survive. Doug was predeceased by his parents, Francis and Barbara.
Funeral services for Doug will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Jeremy Stopford, pastor of the Beaver Meadow Christian Church, will officiate. Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery of Otselic.
Friends are invited to call at the R. J. Fahy Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6-9 p.m.
