Louise N. Diamond


SHERBURNE – Louise Newman Diamond, 85, formerly of Sherburne, passed away Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010 at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, Utica.
She was born May 9, 1924 in Sherburne, a daughter of Roderick J. and Mary E. Cahill Newman and was a graduate of Sherburne High School. On June 10, 1942, Louise married Floyd Ferris, Jr. in Sherburne. He predeceased her on Oct. 23, 1968. She married Coleman Diamond on March 14, 1970 in Earlville, who predeceased her on April 5, 1982. Mrs. Diamond was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Malachy’s Church in Sherburne and the Altar & Rosary Society.
Surviving are her grandchildren, Jackie Ferris of Westmoreland; Bernard R. Ferris of Sherburne and Jennifer Ferris of Floyd, Va.; a sister, Genevieve Andrews of Sherburne; a sister-in-law, Joan Newman of Sherburne; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Bernard Ferris; two brothers, Richard Newman and Edward Newman, Sr., and a great-great-granddaughter, Kelcey Spaven.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday from St. Malachy’s Church, East State St., Sherburne.
Interment will be made in the spring in St. Malachy’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Sherburne Emergency Squad, Sherburne, NY 13460; or to St. Malachy’s Church, PO Box 722, Sherburne, NY 13460.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne.
