OXFORD – Burton Nicholson, 85, of Oxford passed away on Jan. 31, 2010 at Gilmour Health Care Facility, Norwich.
He was born on May 1, 1924 in Oxford the son of Otto and Edith (Figary) Nicholson. In 1945, he married Thelma (Chub) Hinckley, who passed away on Dec. 16, 2008.
He is survived by two sisters in law, Frances Hinckley of Florida and Gladys Biviano of North Carolina. Several nieces and nephews also survive as well as his dog Jazzy D. He was predeceased by his son Gary Nicholson.
Burt was a dairy farmer on Tyner Hill for many years. He had operated Oxford Snowmobile for several years. His favorite passtime was cutting trees in the woods. After he left the farm, he worked at Valley Supply in South New Berlin for several years. He was a charter member of the Oxford Lions Club. He loved having his morning coffee with his friends at Mr. Chubb’s.
At his request there will be no services. He will be laid to rest with his wife and son in Riverview Cemetery in Oxford. Memorial contributions may be made to the Chenango County SPCA.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Oxford.
