Barbara Boyce

OXFORD – Barbara “Barb” Boyce, 55, lifelong Oxford resident, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday morning, Jan. 27, 2010 in the Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Born in Norwich in December of 1954, the daughter of Robert and Margaret Browning Hinckley, Barb was a graduate of the Oxford High School. She had worked for a time for Champion in Norwich, and was a 20-year employee of the Veterans’ Home in Oxford, where she worked as a housekeeper and in the food service. Barb was an excellent crocheter of dolls and clothing articles, who could look at something and make it without benefit of a pattern. She was an avid football fan, favoring the Carolina Panthers and the Dallas Cowboys. An outgoing people person who would speak her mind, Barb had very many close friends. While her health permitted, she enjoyed flower gardening, playing on her computer and spending as much time as possible with her family.
On May 30, 1995, in Oxford, Barb married Lane F. Boyce, who survives. She is also survived by her sons, Jason Heisler and his wife Christina, and Thad Heisler; and by her sisters, Judith Hicks, and Mary Demuth and her husband Jerry, all of Oxford; her brothers, Roger Hinckley and wife Mary of Hacketstown, N.J. and Terry Hinckley of Norwich. Also surviving are Barb’s grandchildren, Heaven Eisler and Dominic Bergstrom; her foster-sister, Jeanette Jones of Cortland; nieces and nephews; and her brother-in-law, Norman Boyce and wife Debbie of North Carolina. She was predeceased by her foster-sister, Sharon Hunter.
At Barb’s request, there will be no formal services or calling hours. Please consider memorial contributions to the Oxford Emergency Squad, Oxford NY 13830.
Arrangements are by the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home of Norwich.
