Peter John Volk, 94, of Zephyrhills, FL passed away on June 26, 2020 in the loving care of Hospice. He was born on November 17, 1925 in College Point, NY to the late John and Magdalena Volk. His family moved to Oxford, NY when he was six years old.
Peter attended Oxford Academy School and enlisted in the United States Navy at the start of WWII.
He was a lifetime member of the VFW in Norwich. He was also a 75 year continuous lifetime member of the American Legion Post #376 in Oxford.
He retired after 40 years with the IBEW #1249 as a general foreman.
He is survived by his loving wife Helen Adsit Volk. He was predeceased by his sister Barbara Volk Bogie and his daughter Colleen Volk. He is also survived by his daughter Georgianna (Dan) Villano of Santa Barbara, CA; son William (Rita) Volk of Zephyrhills, FL; daughter Christine Volk of Ocala, FL; son Thomas (Paula Shapley) Volk of Orlando, FL; loving stepchildren daughter Sandy Dalmer, son Charlie (Bonnie) Collins of McDonough, daughter Debbie (Greg) Pacha of Ault, CO. Also surviving are niece Anna (Terry) Stark, nephew Rob (Sharon) Whitaker of Oxford and numerous grand and great-grand children.
Peter will be buried in St. Joseph’s Catholic cemetery in Oxford, NY. There are no services or calling hours.
