Chauncey Gray


NORWICH – Chauncey V. Gray, 88 of Wells Road, Norwich passed away on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2006 at the NYS Veterans’ Home, Oxford. 
He was born on Sept. 27, 1918 in Afton the son of the late Norva and Viola (Carter) Gray.
He is survived by his children, Donald Gray of Norwich, Roger Gray of Norwich, Mark and Judy Gray of Oxford and Paulette Hohmann of Norwich; his sister, Alice Arns of Afton; his grandchildren, Craig Gray, Amanda Gray, Angela Gray, Michael Gray, Teresa and Will Jordan, Stacy Lum, Robert and Kerry Hohmann, Debra Lee Hohmann and Rick Williams, Matthew Gray and Brian Gray, his step grandchildren, Shaelyn and Josh Webb and Benjamin Baker; his great grandchildren, Brook Barnes, Heather Babcock, Corey Babcock, Cameron Baldwin, Nicole Lum, Kaitlin Hohmann, Lily Hohmann, Todd Gray, Lindsey Gray, Bryant Gray, Jada Williams; his great great grandchildren, Shanaee Baker-Bush and Trisden Webb, and his former wife, Naomi Gray of Norwich.
 He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific.  He was a member of the Norwich Elks Club, #1222 BPOE, Fort Hill Post #376, American Legion of Oxford and was also a life member of the Disabled American Veterans.  He retired from Simmonds Precision as a group leader.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday from the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Oxford with the Rev. Stephen Reese, pastor of the Columbus Community Church officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in Riverview Cemetery, Oxford.
 Friends may call at the Behe Funeral Home, Oxford on Wednesday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. 
Memorial contributions may be made to the NYS Veterans’ Home, Memorial Fund, 4211 State Highway 220, Oxford, NY 13830.
