SHERBURNE – Hertha A. Neumann Bennett, 97, former Sherburne resident, passed away Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010 at the NYS Veterans Home, Oxford.
She was born April 21, 1912 in Austria, a daughter of Max and Martha Tietze Neumann. She came to the United States at the age of 18, living in Syracuse before moving to Sherburne. On May 13, 1950, Hertha married Stanley Slosek who predeceased her in March 1962. She later married Edward Bennett who also predeceased her. Mrs. Benentt was employed by TACO in Sherburne, and following that she was the housekeeper for H.H. Brown. She was a communicant of St. Malachy’s Church in Sherburne.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, James and Rebecca Slosek of Norwich; two grandsons, Brian Slosek of Plattsburgh, and Michael Slosek of Denver, Colo.; step-grandchildren, Glenn and Holly Webb and Kristine Webb, all of Norwich; and a step-great-grandchild, Sophia Webb.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 25, 2010 from St. Malachy’s Church, East State St., Sherburne.
Interment will be in West Hill Cemetery, Sherburne, in the spring.
Friends are invited to call at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne on Monday from 9 to 10:30 a.m.
