Carol A. Ray, 73, of Maltzan-Sheridan Rd., passed away Wednesday. March 11, 2020 at the Valley View Nursing Home in Norwich, NY.
She was born February 7, 1947 in Greene, NY, a daughter of Merlin and Ellen Voorhis Palmer and received her education in local schools. Carol was a nurse’s aide at the Hubbardsville Manor for 15 years. Above all, she was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother who took great pride in her home. She enjoyed shopping and going to garage sales.
Surviving are her children, Steven Ray of S. New Berlin; Melinda Ray of Sherburne; Gary and Valarie Ray of Edmeston; Julie Sharki of Norwich; Merlin and Robin Truax of WY; sister and brother-in-law, June and Jerry Mathot of TX; twelve grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her lifelong companion, Walter J. Truax on June 25, 2002; sisters, Glenda Voorhis and Alberta Harkcom; and a brother, Merlin “Bud” Palmer, Jr.
In keeping with her wishes, there are no services or calling hours.
Interment in the Sherburne Quarter Cemetery will be held at a later date and time in the spring.
