Eleanor Walker


NORWICH – Eleanor Bischoff Walker, 85, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 20, 2009, at Bethany Village in Horseheads.
Eleanor was born in Norwich and later moved to Binghamton. She received her accounting degree from Broome Community College as an adult and was a Certified Professional Secretary. Her career included employment at Conrail, Ansco, First City National Bank, Binghamton-area realtors, and the Penny Saver. She was a past president of the Business and Professional Women of the Triple Cities. In 2001 she was presented with the New York State Senate Excelsior Woman of Achievement Award by Senator Thomas W. Libous. An avid bowler and golfer, she spent many summers on Seneca Lake with her children and grandchildren as they were growing up. In later years, she loved to travel and saw many parts of the world with her friends. Eleanor was a caring mother who loved her family and friends unconditionally, and a beautiful person who will be missed by all of the people she touched.
Eleanor is survived by a loving and dedicated daughter, Anne Walker Terry, son-in-law James E. Terry, grandchildren Brennan and Sean Terry; a son, Steven R. Walker and his wife Pamela Johnson Walker, and grandchildren Rory, Travis, and Allyson Walker. She was predeceased by her husband, William P. Walker, Vice President of Human Resources at NYSEG; her mother, Gertrude Bischoff Biermann, as well as her sister Jane Bischoff Dixon.
Note time change: A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home, 116 North Broad St., Norwich.
