Robert J Corey died October 29th after a long battle with cancer.
He was born in Norwich, NY on January 26th 1946 to James H. Corey Jr. and Catherine Hughes Corey. He graduated from Norwich High School in 1964.
He married Sara Smith in 1966. After an honorable discharge from the Army he attended Broome Community College earning an Associate’s degree in 1972 and continued his education at Cornell University graduating with honors and distinction in 1974.
He completed his Master’s degree at the University of Wyoming in 1975. After several years working in business he returned to college at the Pennsylvania State University being awarded P.H.D. in 1988. He taught at the West Virginia University until his retirement in 2005 when he moved to Punta Gorda, Florida with his wife.
Robert was preceded in death by his father James Corey Jr., a sister Susan & her husband Daniel Dubois. He is survived by his wife of 52 years Sarah, his daughter Amy, grandchildren Veronica & Joseph Stevens, two great grandchildren Marlee & Peyton Moore and his mother Catherine H. Corey. He is also survived by four brothers James (Carol) Corey, Michael (Diana) Corey, Richard (Kathy) Corey & David (Kay) Corey along with two sisters Catherine Hood & Barbara Edick. He is also survived by many treasure nieces and nephews.
He was laid to rest in Sarasota National Cemetery with full military honors on November 5th 2018
