Morris Paul Beckwith


Morris Paul Beckwith, 77 of Oxford, NY passed away at his home on October 27th, 2018. Morris was born in Unadilla, NY the son of the late Paul Beckwith and Marjorie King.

He is predeceased by his son Bill Wakefield, step-mother Ida Beckwith, brother-in-law Norm Swayze, and niece Lisa Merritt.

He is survived by his wife Retha Wakefield, children Robert & Tina Beckwith, Charles & Darlene Beckwith, Jim & Donna Wakefield, Tim & Holly Wakefield, Lori & Carol Beckwith Strong, Theresa Wakefield and Renae Wakefield. His brothers Richard and Donna Beckwith and Ray and Pat Merritt. Sisters Shirley Swayze and Helen Brown. Morris is also survived his many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews’ cousins and family members. Close friends Paul Funair, Floyd “Skip Deiss” and Bonnie Haynes.

Morris was a graduate of Oxford Academy Highschool and worked for NYS DOT, Oxford NY for over 30 years. He was a member of the Brisben Fire Dept, American Legion Post # 376 and the Oxford Rod & Gun club. Morris loved hunting, tractor pulls, Pony pulls and enjoyed Bingo. He also enjoyed mowing his lawn and cutting firewood. He worked for Bill Tefft Trucking, Raymond Corp. and for many auction companies including the family business Creek Side Auction & Rentals. He loved his family and friends and held a very special place in his heart for his grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Behe Funeral Home Inc. 21 Main Street, Oxford, NY 13830. Memorial service will be held on Friday November 2nd 2018 from 11:30AM – 3:00 PM at the Oxford Fire Department.
